Christian Cafe at Climate Camp '08 (Kingsnorth)

03/08/2008 - 00:00

The third installment of the Climate Camp saga will be played out at Kingsnorth Powerstation in Kent between 3rd and 11th August 2008. I58 and other organisations are working hard to create a cafe space, run by Christians, to provide tea and coffee, cakes and more to campers during the day, and somewhere for Christians to gather for fellowship and prayer amidst the hectic activity of the site.

We'll need some 30 people to come and help run the cafe throughout the week to ensure no one misses too much of the camp itself, so please come along and be part of the amazing experience that is climate camp, and be part of a Christian community within.

Anyone wanting to get involved should join this email list where most of the planning is currently taking place. We shall also be holding a Saturday meeting in the near future to discuss and plan the project, and meet each other. Watch this site or the email list for more. If you are interested in coming, but can't face joining another email list, please use the contact us page to get in touch so we can keep you updated of major details.

Experience at the last camp and other events like it show that the kitchens are often too busy to cater to people's desire for hot drinks mid-afternoon, as they rush to get the evening meal ready. This, coupled with a desire to have a space for a worshiping community on site, while remaining part of the camp and being a part of the regional 'neighbourhood' system (where people camp with others in their regions).
