Planning and Organising

There's plenty to be getting on with between now and the camp, and we love some help. We'll have a small decision making meeting during SPEAK's Big Dress Gathering (tba) and a bigger one on a Saturday sometime (possibly 24th May). If you want to be part of this, then please sign up to the email list, as it will make coordinating work much easier.

Equipment

We have a long list of things we either need to, or want to, get hold of. This currently includes a marquee, a few tables, some chairs, lots of mugs and lots of tea spoons. This is the one area where the email list will be most useful.

Spreading the word

We're designing a flier and a poster, writing a press release to 'the church press' (e.g. Church Times, The Tablet, Premier Radio, BBC Religion) and doing a few stalls at events. Again, this is being planned through the email list.

But really, the best thing people can do is talk face to face with people; their friends, churches, small groups, student groups, and at events they go to. If you want some fliers, we can fix that. Groups of 4 to 6 are really great building blocks for a project like this, though bigger groups are a bonus.

Also, do invite non-Christian friends for whom Climate Camp itself will be an amazing experience. The camp is really busy, so they'll have plenty to do, but you'll have time to hang out with them when you want to. We want the whole camp to be a success, and you can definitely contribute by being part of the massive mobilising force for the camp itself.

Get Involved in the "Camp Process"

This term will get used a lot. It basically refers to the gatherings, the working groups and the work that goes on in creating and running the camp. Join the Climate Camp email list. Its a weekly email of stuff thats happening, stuff that needs to happen and generally good to know stuff.

The main working groups are Site Practicalities and Networking, which handles the promotion and media, and they're both always looking for more helpers.

The gatherings are announced via the email list and camp website Gatherings Page. They're not essential for everyone, but if one is taking place near you, or you fancy getting more involved in the camp, come along. We're hoping to have someone at each, and may well organise night prayer on the Saturday night when there's enough of us around.

Specialist Skills

If you hold a First Aid at Work certificate or similar qualification, the medics would love to hear from you. If you're a trained gas fitter, electrician, plumber, IT technician, counsellor or mediator, they're useful too, and people with marquee building experience should contact site group.
