We're combining these two events into one weekend, and this time we're off to Birmingham. It seems likely we'll also be looking at some issues around the role of, and form taken by, i58 which could be quite exciting, as well as big ideas for future events and actions. The venue for the weekend's discussions and general hanging out will be Journey MCC Church, just round the corner from New Street Station (map)
So whether you came to the camp, have past involvement in i58, or are generally interested in the idea that Christianity and Direct Action might mix, come along and take part. Contributions towards the weekend's worship or food are most welcome, and ideas for the agenda will be considered (see 'Contact Us').
The basic shape of the weekend is likely to involve food for when people arrive on the Friday evening (available from 6pm) and some discussions about on how we feel the Climate Camp Cafe went, followed by night prayer of some form. On Saturday, we'll be looking at what i58 is and does, if and when we next want to run the cafe, how we respond to upcoming opportunities for action, and how we resource the church to take a stand on important issues. We'll spend the evening in fellowship, worship and prayer; and probably also a pub!
There might even be a training for non-violent direct action from the people working on a mass-blockade of Aldermaston Nuclear Weapons Establishment later in the month. Look out for more details here!
On Sunday we'll join Journey for their morning service, have lunch, wrap up the whole thing, and head home about 3pm.
People are welcome to come to as much or as little as they want to. For instance, come listen to our stories at the Friday night debrief, or come on Saturday (we'll aim for a 10am start) to help us do the really important decisions bit.
